At the glorious age of 101, our beautiful Mother passed away peacefully at her home, on Thursday June 25th, 2026. She was surrounded by her children, Sandra (Jim Duncan), Geoffrey (Kathy Prophet) and Susan (Tim Stover). Loving Grandmother to Christopher and Alisha Duncan, Marc and Kayla Bernier, Dillon Prophet and Leslie Firstbrook, Courtney and Richard Huff, Kristi Prophet. Beloved Great Grandmother (G.G.), to James Duncan, Graham Duncan, Emric Bernier, Macklim Bernier and Aislyn Scharf-Oldford.
Mabel loved spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, above all. She was the longest active member of the Lachute Curling Club, devoted Bridge player and voracious book lover from a very young age. Mabel travelled the world and loved mostly to walk the beaches for sunsets and sunrises.
Following 39 years with the Laurentian Regional School Board, she went on to volunteer for several decades as chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the Lachute Residence. We had the best role model a family could ask for.
We would like to take this time to also thank the compassionate comfort care we received from Julie Fortin and her team at Equilibre à domicile, the CLSC Palliative care nurses and Dr Ariane St-Jean. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to make a donation to the charity of your choice.
